Zoning and Development Committee

WHEREAS, there is a proposal from the A.I.A. ( American Institute of Architects ) for a city-wide zoning text amendment ( N 080110ZRY ) which will affect the contextual zones throughout the city,

WHEREAS, both community organizations and residents in the UpperEast Side worked for many years to establish the Contextual Zoning Regulations which protect both the mid-blocks and some avenues in the Upper East Side,

Whereas Community Board#8M unanimously supported these regulations and has worked to strengthen them,

WHEREAS, CB8M had no knowledge of this zoning text amendment proposal until very recently,

WHEREAS, this short notice has made it impossible for CB#8M to study this proposal and our brief examination has raised serious questions,

THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED, Community Board#8M recommends disapproval of this proposal.
